What MAS credentialing means for Medicaid patients
MAS (Medical Answering Services) is the broker that manages all Medicaid NEMT trips in New York State. To transport Medicaid patients, a provider must be credentialed through MAS — which means meeting ongoing standards for vehicles, insurance, driver qualifications, and operational reliability.
For patients, MAS credentialing means you can request DachiPlus by name when you call MAS to book a trip at 1-844-666-6270. If DachiPlus has availability, MAS will assign the trip to us. You pay nothing — the trip is billed directly to Medicaid.
Driver screening: what we check before a driver works a single trip
Every DachiPlus driver passes a multi-step screening before being assigned to any patient transport route:
- Full criminal background check at the state and federal level
- Motor vehicle record (MVR) review — no major violations, no DUI/DWI history
- Drug and substance screening
- Verification of a valid NYS for-hire vehicle (FHV) license
- Work authorization verification
Drivers are rescreened on a regular cycle and immediately suspended if any disqualifying incident arises.
Driver training: what every DachiPlus driver completes
Passing a background check is the floor, not the ceiling. DachiPlus drivers also complete training in:
- CPR and First Aid — certified through an accredited program, with regular refreshers
- Passenger assist — boarding assistance, mobility device handling (walkers, folding wheelchairs, crutches), and safe exit procedures for patients with limited mobility
- HIPAA — patient privacy requirements, proper handling of trip information, and communication protocols
- Medical passenger awareness — understanding post-treatment fatigue (dialysis patients, chemotherapy), cognitive differences (dementia patients), and how to respond if a patient shows signs of distress
Insurance and documentation for facility partners
DachiPlus carries commercial auto liability and general liability insurance at limits that meet or exceed the minimums required by New York State for medical transport operators. For facilities that require it:
- Certificate of Insurance (COI) is available upon request
- DachiPlus can be named as additional insured on a per-contract basis
- Driver background check documentation available for facility compliance audits
- Trip record and billing documentation available for attorneys handling workers' comp or no-fault claims

Vehicle compliance
All DachiPlus vehicles are registered with the NY State Department of Transportation for for-hire transport and pass commercial inspections on schedule. Drivers complete a documented pre-trip inspection before the first pickup of every shift — checking tires, brakes, lights, safety equipment, and cabin cleanliness. Vehicles are cleaned and sanitized between trips.
